11th-Aug-2011 08:27 pm - Deadline!
bang!
Friday is DEADLINE DAY.

That's right, all artwork is due in on Friday. So long as it is still Friday somewhere in the world, you are not late. (Here is a good site for checking what time it is in Hawaii.)

Instructions for submitting your artwork were included in the email that accompanied your fic draft.

Important notes:

- Please don't forget to include your summary number in your email to us, and try and send your emails from the same address that you signed up with. If you have changed your email address since then, then please include your previous email address in your email to us so that we can find you on our spreadsheet.

- If you are going to drop out for whatever reason, then let us know so we can organize a pinch-hitter. Please don't leave your mods to figure out by process of elimination that your artwork just isn't going to arrive in our inbox.

- If you are having problems, then you can reach us at bandombigbang@gmail.com. We'll do our best to accommodate you.

Thanks, everyone!
6th-Aug-2011 10:36 am - Pinch-hit sign-ups
bang!
It's almost deadline time, which means only one thing: it's pinch-hit time.

Every year we're blown away by the work our pinch-hitters do, often turning around incredible artwork in a really short space of time (sometimes three days, but we hope to give you more time by catching drop-outs early). Now, fair warning: we don't know how we're going to use pinch-hitters for our big bang art this year. We still have quite a few summaries that are unclaimed, and we want to work out the best and fairest way of getting art for as many of our stories as possible. We may not use pinch-hitters for art this year, but we're still working on the finer details, so we're opening sign-ups anyway.

To sign up, comment to this post with the following information:

1. Your username
2. Your email address
3. The bands you're willing to work with. Choose from a list of My Chemical Romance / Panic(!) at the Disco / Fall Out Boy / The Used / The Academy Is... / Gym Class Heroes / The Hush Sound / Cobra Starship / Mindless Self Indulgence / All American Rejects / associated girlfriends, partners or wives or state ALL if you can work with any of these, either alone or in combination.
4. These are the mandatory warnings we expect all writers to include if necessary: rape/non-con, dub-con, incest, character death/suicide or graphic self-harm. Please state clearly if you are unwilling to work with particular warnings to ensure we don't accidentally send you a story that you can't read.
5. Any other relevant notes

How it works: if the bands and warnings you're willing to work with matches one of our stories that needs artwork, then we will email you to see if you can work with us. If your circumstances change and you can no longer help out, then please let us know as soon as possible after we send you the draft so that we can find another pinch-hitter to work with. We try and give you a few days to turn your art around, and we will be asking for pinch-hits from now until the beginning of the posting period.

You can sign up even if you are working on artwork at the moment that you haven't submitted - just tell us in your comment that you haven't submitted your current art yet and we won't call on you for pinch-hitting until we've received your current piece.

We can offer only the warm satisfaction of a good deed well done and our frankly pathetic, fawning gratitude, but if you're free and willing to volunteer, we will love you forever.
3rd-Aug-2011 06:34 pm - Artist check-in day
bang!
Today is artist check-in day! That means we'll be sending out an email today to all artists asking them to check-in and let us know that they're going to get their art in by the due date on Friday 12th August.

Artists who haven't yet submitted their artwork: keep an eye on your inbox and reply to our email as soon as you can. We'll be emailing all of our mixers on Friday.

And to everyone else: it's not too late to participate! Mixer and artist sign-ups haven't closed, so if you're still thinking about mixing or making art then there's still time. Deadline day is next Friday, the 12th August.

23rd-Jul-2011 07:56 pm - Wave Two: Claim post for ARTISTS
bang!
This is the claim post for ARTISTS.

How it works:

Beneath the cut you will find summaries for all of the wave two fics.

(Writers, if your summary is missing, then please email us ASAP on bandombigbang@gmail.com. Please do not comment to this post as your comment will get lost in the claims).

  1. Please ensure that you are signed up as a artist here.

  2. Read through the summaries and decide which one you would like to mix for. At this stage, each fic is only allowed to be claimed once. Fics that have already been claimed for mixing will be in bold. Once every fic has been claimed once, we will open the post up for double claiming.

  3. Leave a comment with the following information
    • Livejournal username

    • Email address (please do not sign up with your livejournal email address as we track responses through gmail)

    • The number of the fic you wish to mix for.

  4. The mods will reply to your comment either confirming your claim or asking you to pick another as yours has already been claimed.

  5. Your draft fic will be emailed to you. Please do not worry if this takes a while - your mods can't be at their computers 24 hours a day but we will do our best to get it to you as soon as we can. Don't email us asking where your draft is until 24 hours have passed - we are getting to it, we promise.

  6. All artwork is due in on Friday August 12th, and artist check in day is Wednesday 3rd August. Further details will be in your email along with your fic draft. You can submit your finished mix as soon as it is ready, but if you have already claimed and submitted a mix, you will not be able to claim another summary until Monday at 7PM UTC/GMT, or 48 hours after this post was made.

  7. So, here goes.

Any questions, email them to bandombigbang@gmail.com rather than comment to this post as your question will get lost in the artist claims.

bang!
Today is ARTIST CHECK-IN DAY.

Later today we will be sending all of our artists who haven't completed their art (not you, early birds!) an email asking you to check in with us and let us know that you're going to be able to get your art in to us by Friday 27th May. Keep an eye on your inboxes, artists, and please try and reply as soon as possible.

Thank you!

(And for any potential artists out there: it still isn't to late to claim a summary! We'll be putting a post up later with our unclaimed summaries and any summaries that are newly-re-available after any artist drop-outs, so check through and see if there's anything that catches your eye.)

If you have problems, PLEASE don't assume that we're psychic. We try to be as magical as possible, but mind-reading is beyond us. We can't help if we don't know. ♥
28th-May-2010 11:07 am - Pinch-hit sign-up post: artists
bang!
It's that time again!

The May 30st final deadline for art is in a couple of days, which means it's also pinch-hit organization time! Our favorite part of Big Bang is our writers, artists, and mixers all working together to provide awesome stories, so pinch-hitters are so important to make sure that all of our stories have at least one piece of an art and a mix before posting.

If you're willing to make pinch-hit art for a story this year, please comment to the post with your email address and the bands you're willing to work with. If your chosen bands match one of the stories on our art-less list, we'll send it out to you post-haste, at any point from now on through June. If you've signed up to make art for another fic but haven't turned your art in yet, it's never, ever too late to comment - we would be more than happy to have you after you've turned in your first piece of art!

We'll try to give you as much time as we can, depending on when we get informed of a drop-out; we can guarantee you at least three days in the very worst of circumstances, hopefully around a week on average, and significantly longer if at all possible.

We can offer only the warm satisfaction of a good deed well done and our frankly pathetic, fawning gratitude, but if you're free and willing to volunteer, we will love you forever. And possibly go like this in the comments: \o/ :DDDDD! ♥ \o/, because we are excitable!
24th-May-2010 11:28 am - Deadline Reminder Post
bang!
Here is a reminder that final artwork is due on Sunday May 30th.

Artists need to email bandombigbang@gmail.com and must remember to include the number of their summary, and include their art either as an attachment or as a link, or both.

As always, if you do need to drop out, please let your mods know as soon as possible so we can organise a pinch-hitter. We'll be putting up a post here later in the week where you can sign up to pinch-hit - keep an eye out.

We can't wait to see what you come up with!
14th-May-2010 11:23 am - Artist check-in
bang!
Today is artist check-in day!

If you have claimed a summary but not yet sent in your completed art, then today you need to check in with us to let us know how you're doing.

To do this, email bandombigbang@gmail.com with 'artist check-in #' as your subject line, including the number of the summary you've claimed.

How you let us know how you're getting along is up to you. If you have a part-completed piece of artwork you can attach, that's great. So is a photo of your art in progress. But you don't have to attach anything; you can describe it to us, or let us know which part of the story you intend to create art for.

The purpose of this is not to catch you out or pressure you into finishing your art today. This is a tool that ensures that all our artists have something in the pipeline, and helps us to figure out stories needing pinch-hits as early as possible .

Any problems, just let us know either here, or at bandombigbang@gmail.com. We can't wait to see what you come up with! ♥

1st-May-2010 10:26 pm - ARTIST FAQ POST
big bang
Hello artists! Welcome to another year of bandombigbang. We are so excited to have you, and summaries are going up in a minute.

A few things are different this year, so first, let's recap:

- There is no cap on summaries. All summaries are going up at the same time.
- Claiming is first-come, first-served. We don't allow multiple claiming, unless all stories are claimed and there are still willing artists!
- If you would like to do more than one piece of art for your story, that's more than okay.
- If you would like to claim more than one summary, you must have already turned in art for your first claim.
- If you would like to be put in touch with your author, note this in your comment when you claim, along with your email address, or email us at bandombigbang@gmail.com with your lj name, email address, and summary number, and we will see what we can do!
- There are artist check-ins again this year on May 14th! Essentially, we're just checking that you've received your draft, read it, and decided what you're going to draw/manip; if you can show us more, that's great. It helps us cut down on defaulters and organise pinch-hitters early if we have warning that people are dropping out. (If you think you are going to default, please let us know as soon as possible!)
- Make sure you've joined and friended this comm; future updates and pinch-hit posts are friendslocked.
- Art is due May 30th.

Any questions about the mechanics of the challenge should go in this post, or to bandombigbang@gmail.com.

8th-Jan-2010 09:23 pm - Artists
bang!
We're thinking about running bandombigbang again this year, with a few changes - some of which are contingent on your input. If you've made art for bandombigbang before, and are open to doing it again, we would love to hear from you. This is not a sign-up post and everything is strictly informal, so don't feel contracted by replying to it.

We want to overhaul the art format, among other things, because we know it doesn't work particularly well for artists. We don't intend to cap summaries to artist number this year - they'll all go up at once, and you can go for the one that grabs you the most; first come, first served.

What we would like to hear from you about is revamping the way we arrange the art, and how you'd feel about reworking the deadlines.

What suits you better:

- The traditional arrangement: claiming a story, doing one piece for it, and being free to claim as many others to do one piece for as you like

or

- Being assigned an artist early on, and to work collaboratively with them for a month or so on making single or multiple pieces for the same story?

If you have any other suggestions for improving the way we've organized art in bandombigbang previously that we haven't covered, please let us know! We're definitely listening and trying to rework things at the moment to suit as many people as possible.
31st-May-2009 11:40 am - Deadline Reminder
bang!
Reminder to everyone: June 1st is nearly upon us! Please make sure that you have all art in to us by June 1st. Make sure you send us all materials and any notes you'd like passed on to your writer.

Please make sure you include your lj name and fic draft number in all e-mails!

The BBB e-mail account is bandombigbang@gmail.com

27th-May-2009 11:27 pm - Pinch-Hit Volunteer Post
bang!
Well, guys, the time is nearly upon us: the June 1st final deadline is in a couple of days! That means that the time for organising pinch-hits is upon us, too. We're only committing to pinch-hitting stories 1-110 if their artists drop out, but we already have several stories on our hands, desperately in need of love.

Last year, with much less advance notice, our pinch-hitters worked like crazy and practically single-handedly carried off bandombigbang without a hitch, earning our eternal thanks. We literally couldn't have done it without them - pinch-hitters help carry this challenge.

If you're willing to pinch-hit art for a story this year, please comment to the post with your email address and the bands you're willing to work with. If your chosen bands match one of the stories on our poor, sad, artless list, we'll send it out to you post-haste, at any point from now on through June. If you haven't turned your art in yet, but find after the deadline that you're willing to pinch-hit, it's never, ever too late to comment - we would be more than happy to have you.

We'll try to give you as much time as we can, depending on when we get informed of a drop-out; we can guarantee you at least three days in the very worst of circumstances (*crosses fingers that that won't happen this year*), hopefully around a week on average, and significantly longer if at all possible.

We can offer only the warm satisfaction of a good deed well done and our frankly pathetic, fawning gratitude, but if you're free and willing to volunteer, we will love you forever.
